The New Guy, Part Three

Characters/Pairings: Zac, Dee/Ryo, Drake/JJ, Ted
Warnings: None
Timeline: Way after Like, Like, Love – when Dee and Ryo as well as Drake and JJ are officially and openly together.

"Morning, mates!", Zachary greeted everyone as he all but pranced into the office.

"What's up, Zac?", Dee asked, "Did your date go well yesterday?"

"Brilliant! Actually, I already saw her again this morning. I knocked her up at her place before work, just to say hi."

Dee choked on his coffee at those words, JJ broke into a giggling fit, Ryo turned a bright scarlet, Drake could only gape and Ted exclaimed: "WHAT?!"

"What?", Zac echoed him, "What's wrong this time?"

"Dude, knocking someone up means getting them pregnant."

Now Zac blushed as well. "Oh my goodness..."

"Welcome to America!"

(Author's Notes: Poor Zac embarrasses himself again and again... xD )

I had that experience too! Years ago when I was staying with relatives in London, my uncle asked me if I would like him to knock me up in the morning. I was briefly taken aback but I figured it out from the context! I had a number of bus/train connections to make in order to catch my plane, and oversleeping would have been fatal.

Haha, that's a funny story! I would have loved to see your face right after he asked you xD
The differences between American and British English can cause so many misunderstandings!

Thank you :)

One day, Zac will learn American English, poor guy. Until then, he is doomed to alternately offend and embarrass his colleagues.

Poor guy indeed! Maybe he should have stayed in England... But then the guys from the 27th wouldn't have something to laugh about! ;D

Thank you! :)
