I need your help!

My sister gave me the idea of writing a novel (or several novels) in English. In general, I like that idea because it would help me to reach a greater audience - and you guys would be able to read my original stories, too!
Now I'm thinking about either translating one of my existing novels or write a whole new story in English from the start.
But before I do one or the other, I need to ask you two questions:

a) Do you believe my English is good enough for such a project?

and

b) If you think so, would any of you be able and willing to beta-read my work?

You're the only native English-speakers I know so I really need your help here :)
So PLEASE tell me your answers, even if they are negative! And please be 100% honest with me as well!

Thanks in advance! <3

I would have answered you yesterday except that I spent the whole day lying on the sofa feeling jet-lagged and unequal to the task of fighting with my crappy wi-fi Internet at home.

Yes, your English is most definitely good enough.

No, I cannot beta for you, at least not at this time. I just got back from vacation and I have a mountain of work to do and approximately ten major projects to complete over the next month. I'll be working seven days a week for the foreseeable future. I'm in the office right now as a matter of fact, and it's Sunday and I STILL have jet lag! *sigh*

If you still need beta help in August, I anticipate having same time then, as my business usually slows down to a more manageable level in mid to late summer.

I hope you can find someone else to help you in the meantime.

Oh that's okay, I know what a busy bee you are! ;D

But it's good to know that my English is good enough for this (slightly intimidating) monster project ^_^

Anyways, thanks for being willing to help me out! I know you have so much to do at the moment, and I don't expect you to spend every little freetime you have on beta-reading for me ;)

I won't start my translation project right away anyways since I need to finish writing my current novel at first. I hope I'll have it finished by Christmas, but I'm not sure yet... (Knowing me, it will probably take longer than that xD )Maybe this novel will also be the first one that I translate but I'm not sure about that yet - on the one hand, it's my favourite story so far, but on the other hand, I have some other finished novels that are shorter and maybe easier to translate... Well, I'll think about that as soon as I finish this book. :D

In any case, thanks so much again for wanting to help me! That really means a lot to me. ^_^

By the way, what ever happened to your original writing? If I remember correctly, you were / are working on a novel that is set in ancient Rome, right? :)

I'll be happy to help you when I have some time.I have to get this whole self-employed thing under control or I'm not going to have a life. Ever since I got back from vacation, I have resumed my usual pattern of eating lunch and dinner at my desk and only breakfast at home. But I had such a wonderful time in France that I am now motivated to work hard, make money and go there again!

I have found some time here and there to work on my original writing, but I can only do about 30 minutes two or three times a week on average, so its really slow going. I've finished 13 long chapters averaging 3500 words each on my Regency M/M novel, and I'm five chapters in on a SF novel, also M/M. But I haven't forgotten about the ancient Rome one-- I just haven't looked at it in a while.

Well at least you're still motivated enough to work hard - motivation is always important :)

Oh I didn't know you were writing more than one book! But hey, progress is progress. And you're still writing much more than some other hobby-authors I know! ;)
